what happens if you go into the bios and reset to factory defaults??

can you go to the computer makers website and get a recovery disk??

is there an f11 command on the very first boot page for the recovery??

Hi,

I have the same problem as you and it occured on the same day?! My computer experienced a power breakdown while it was running.

I also get the black screen when the logon screen should appear, the same thing for safe mode, last known good configuration,....

But I have also XP installed on another HDD so I still can use the computer. Maybe I can solve this via XP?

Thanks!

I've also found that pressing ctrl-alt-del and then choosing "Switch User" or "Log Out" and then clicking the User that's not loading sometimes helps.

Arrow Same Problem
Same problem here. Install of Vista Ultimate 64-bit and XP Pro.

Only for me, chkdsk ran automatically after I had shut down vista (and, installed updates I assume, I don't know for sure if it did, but it took a lot longer to shut down).

No solutions found here either.

I have merged a few of these threads together since they all seem to suggest the same problem.

I've solved this problem!

I also installed xp on my computer. In XP, go to the properties of the disc with Vista on it and use the error checking tool and check all options. After this process Vista started without any problems!

I hope this will also work for you!

Good luck!
Cliff

I'm having the same problem
I don't have xp on the same computer so that solution doesn't really help me.

Is there a way to uninstall the video driver from the command prompt? I would try that if i could figure out how to do it without being able to get into windows.
