No Audio output device installed
I installed RC1 on my FujitsuSiemens Amilo D1840 laptop.
First, my wireless was gone, but I reinstalled from FSC.
Now my audio is missing. I tried to download and install Realtek from FSC, but after restarting Vista is goes directly into "blue screen" just before entering user account. The only way to get the computer work again is to start in safe mode, uninstall, and stay without sound device.

Anyone who knows how I can get an audio device in place?

"No Audio Output Device is Installed" / worked before vista.....
well, i got vista home premium on feb 2nd.

I have a Compaq Presario V5303 that i bought on Nov 24th (black friday)

it has a "Windows Vista Capable" sticker.

On the second i got Vista premium and installed it, everything went smoothly. Installed perfectly, no problems.

Or so i thought....

a icon in my system tray that looks like a speaker with a "X" over it appears

when i put my cursor over it it says "No Audio Output Device is Installed"

i went to microsoft and updated my drivers and whatnot, then did the same on the HP website, still no luck.

my primary use of my laptop is for MUSIC producing!!! im a musician.... i NEEEEED my computer to play music!

someone PLEASE help me before i throw my computer at bill gates!

this is unacceptable.... it has a friggin' sticker that says it will work!

Plug in some speakers
I have the same thing on my HP desktop. Plug in my speakers, and the X is gone, everything is good.

See, the DRIVER is there, it's just not detecting OUTPUT device which equals speakers.

Good luck!

No Audio Output Device is installed
I have recently bought a new Sony VAIO (Laptop) VGN-FE41E. After I expericenced some windows problems I have upgraded the system software (Windows Vista Home Premium OEMAct). Then my computer fell silent. When I hover over the sound icon next to the clock. (bottom right hand corner) I get the message "No Audio Output Device is installed." Before I upgraded my Vista the device worked properly-previously I was using the same system software.

To solve the problem I have tried the following:
1- In the control panel> Harware and sound > sound, it is indicated that “No audio devices are installed”
2- In the control panel> Device manager, under Sound, video and game conrollers I have found SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec. I have tried to update the driver of this device by right clicking. I was notified that “Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date”
3- Afterwards I disabled and enabled the device. It did not solve the problem.
4- Afterwards I uninstalled the device and reinsalled it again in Device manager. It did not work.
5- I also visited the driver databse website ( http://www.driversdb.com/device.php?id=73047 ) no driver is offered for this product for windows Vista (For other system software they do).
6- VAIO website does also not offer drivers for this product.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

No output device
It's weird, my speakers and everything WERE working, and then I went to record something, and now they wont work at all, somehow windows magically deleted the device itself or something. And then, I tried system restore twice, and vista couldn't even complete those two tasks. God knows, I am so getting rid of vista, it's a pity it came with this computer. Eventually I may even go linux on this one, however I dont believe they created the correct driver for my wireless card yet. If anyone can figure out the issues, solved it, please get back to me. I'm a college student, taking two online courses along with two courses at the school, and I need this PC to watch lectures for heavens sakes!

finally fixed "no audio device installed" problem
I've been sitting here for hours trying to figure out why I had no sound..... no clue. Well I finally went on my manufacture's website of my computer and went to drivers and downloads. Click on browse all downloads and put my computer info in and the problem. It came up with all these downloads for sound and I know that sigma is in the system somewhere, so I downloaded it once but the system went down. Then i uninstalled it and reinstalled it again and finally it took and I have sound again. But you have to read what each driver is for first. I chose the high definition driver of sigma. What an obstacle this was. But my advice is to try the manufacturer's website, mine was gateway and very self explanitory too. I hope this helps someone.
