Re: No Audio output device installed
Check your device manager. If theres a yellow question mark where the sound card is you need to update the drivers. If however theres no yellow question mark you may need to right-click on the sound card and click propeties. Then either find a setting that enables them or roll back the driver.

Amilo D1840 (score 2.9)- Vista ultimate - also installed on L7300 (score 1.0)
Have installed twice (just for fun and to record all steps for future ref works fine on both but little slow on L7300)

Sound card problem will be fixed automatically when you go to windows update. Clever thing this vista.

Angry no audio output device installed
hi i recently installed a fresh copy of windows vista home premium and everything works fine except for the sound there is a cross over the sound icon and when i put my mouse over it says "no audio output device installed" i have a advent t11 with a realtek high definition audio device and have been on the realtek site and have downloaded the new drivers for vista several times and installed but still no luck!! i have tried many things as it seems alot of people have the same problem ive unistalled and rebooted and it automatically installs the drivers but still dont work. when i go into the device manager and click on the high defintion audio it says

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available

any help would be great as its driving me nuts thanks

Re: No Audio output device installed (for hp USERS)
Hey,
I had the same problem.
Pleas do the following:

1)Open the Device Manager ( can be accessed from Control Panel)
2)Click on the "Sound, Videogame Controllers, etc." and a sub option with your particular device will appear.
3)click on the sub option.
4) click "Divers" on top (middle option).
5) Then click "enable" to enable you driver.
6) Click "update" (right above Enable).
7) A series of message boses will appear. Click on the (recommended) ones.
You Audio device will be installed. Good Luck. Hope this helps.
Any more question? mail -'friendlyfire129@hotmail.com'

Thank you sooooooo much. This link that is displayed really works. I have used windows vista home premium for a year on a HP Pavilion dv6000 and it fixed my problem right away. Just install it and your done!
My computer had the X on top of the speaker icon and said no audio device installed. This link works to re-install the speakers!
