WHAT IS THE ANSWER FOR MY PROBLEM

Before I upgraded my Vista the device worked properly-previously I was using the same system software.

To solve the problem I have tried the following:
1- In the control panel> Harware and sound > sound, it is indicated that “No audio devices are installed”
2- In the control panel> Device manager, under Sound, video and game conrollers I have found SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec. I have tried to update the driver of this device by right clicking. I was notified that “Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date”
3- Afterwards I disabled and enabled the device. It did not solve the problem.
4- Afterwards I uninstalled the device and reinsalled it again in Device manager. It did not work.
5- I also visited the driver databse website ( http://www.driversdb.com/device.php?id=73047 ) no driver is offered for this product for windows Vista (For other system software they do).
6- VAIO website does also not offer drivers for this product.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

I found an answer and i hope it works for you
I tried to update me laptop system.

Anyhow, before i did the update. i had sound on my computer.

After the update, i saw that "x" over my sound icon.

I honestly didnt realize what it was until I didnt want to hear the Starbucks musci anymore. I needed a sound of my own. So I tried to play my music (which took me forever to rip).
And i received a message "No audio output device installed"

Anyhow, being that my sound was just working fine before, i used teh "Search" tool and keyed in "Audio"

I brought up several different things, but the main thing was an "audio setup" icon.

I double-clicked on the icon and presse a few "ok" and my audio device was reinstalled.

I hope this helps.

First uninstall the sound drive by going to device manager and click on sounds. Then click the device tab and click uninstall. Then restart your computer.

Then go to Sony eSupport - Electronics and click on software and ers. Then type in your model number and on the next page click "original". Then look for "SigmaTel® High Definition Audio CODEC" and download and run it. Then restart your computer and your audio will work fine.
(I upgraded from windows xp to vista ultimate and incountered the same audio driver problem.I found this forum and fallowed the above post by uninstalling my device but instead of rebooting my computer I was going to see what sony had to offer. so i started up fire fox and before it opened a window my audio came on. So it seems that vista must come with an audio device which was conflicting with my older device.)

Reinstalling audio device
Hi all,

I encountered problems similar to all of yours (I have a Sony VAIO), and here’s what worked for me:

Check out the Microsoft Support page for an explanation of the problem (specifically with a SigmaTel HD audio device): After you upgrade to Windows Vista, audio playback no longer works on the computer if the SigmaTel HD audio driver is installed

What you need to do then is go to your specific OEM website to download a new driver for the audio device. You can find links to these OEM websites here (choose based on your computer manufacturer): Synaptics Products :: OEM Links

Once you get to the OEM website (in my case, Sony), go to the Software & Drivers area and input your computer model. Then follow the directions for downloading and executing the specific update driver for the audio device. Restart your computer, and if you’re as lucky as I was, everything will be back in working order.

Hope this help . . .
