Windows doesn't recognize Camcorder in Devices Manager
I have a new Dell XPS420 with Windows Vista
I also have a new camcorder (Canon HV30) with preferred editing software, Premiere Elements 4. I've not been able to transfer video in Elements.

I went to the Device Manager and the camcorder is not listed in the Images Devices folder. (I do have the HV30 turned on, in the 'play' mode and using a newly purchased Firewire cable)

What needs to happen so that the computer, with Vista, recognizes the Canon HV30 camcorder?

Hi

If you've got Vista, make sure you've downloaded SP1.!!!!

Some of the best advice you'll find on using this camcorder can be found on the Muvipix.com Hi-Def forum, which you can find here.

You can also use a TV tuner card that allows RCA inputs and transfer your video to your PC that way.. thats the way I do mine.
