Hey there superbill, I thought I'd ask you first about set up and connections before I google it. Exactly how is it hooked up? Thanks superbill, I was trying to convince myself to go that route with HP server, now that I have found some one who has it, I am going to get it.

Yep......big is not always best and that goes for security software as well. Sometimes we get "nasties" on our computers and we think that if our present software will not detect & remove it others will. This is not always the case as there are certain "nasties" that no security software will get rid off. If you are comfortable with your present software, that in general does an adequate job, stick with it.

All these security software programs love to latch on to my driver. I worry about that when I try these things out. NOD32 is not obtrusive, I like that. Norton said they can scan for Trojans, it's a big deal. Big deals are starting to offend me.

No.... you should not need to disable Norton..... NOD32 gets very good reviews.........might install it on my laptop to see how it performs. Reviews can be found here:

Should I disable Norton? Thank You Very Much.... By the way, NOD 32 from their own description sounds like a better antivirus, Trojan protector. Norton didn't rank bad. McAfee didn't do as well.

    Hi Celestra

You should get it at either of these sites:

    |MG| HijackThis 1.99.1

    Download HijackThis 2.0.2 - FileHippo.com
  8. Celestra
I just took a look at the site (MG) HijackThis 1.00.1. Got a white circle with an X -Abort, can not open this site. Do you have another download location?

Have you used hijackthis before.?????....you can get it here

    |MG| HijackThis 1.99.1

Once you have dowloaded and installed it, go to the main menu and click on "Do a system scan and save a logfile". Click o.k. till you have the hijack this - notebook screen that is a logfile of your system. Copy the complete page as in "copy & paste" and then type hijackthis.de in your browser. Open highjackthis.de home page (do not worry about the german language) and on the white square named "You can paste a logfile in this textbox " paste the logfile of your system that you saved. Now select analyze from underneath and in seconds you will see all your running processes with a assessment of how each is regarded. The majority will be "very safe or safe" some "neutral" and perhaps some "nasty". Have a close look at the "neutral" & "nasty" and see if there is anything you do not recognise. If you are sure that something should not be there you can remove it. Make a note of it and then go back and run hijackthis again and this time click "do a system scan only". You have the same logfile but with boxes to the left against each process that can be checked for removal. Once you are sure what you want rid of click "fix checked".
Even if it will not remove this way, you can manually remove via registry.
P.S. If you find something you are unsure about , post back and check before removing

Spy bots may be alright for some people, it reminds me of Vista to much. They constantly ask for permissions - allow or deny registry changes. Can't stand that, it's their business not mine. What am I, a programmer ? Windows thought I should try RunScanner freeware startup, hijack and malware analyzer ("The Cleaner" drove me nuts-- on and on, sticks in one spot and won't move. And no one to talk to to fix it. If you pay, then you can talk to somebody-probably)
