Is it just me or does this website seem empty ?
Does anyone know how many members winvista has currently got?

I feel like this site is empty I posted a few threads last week yet I didn't get any answer to any of my questions. I guess people aren`t overly interested in Vista.....

However I am interested in windows vista.....

There are 307 registered users at the time of this writing. My guess is that 90% of those posted a question, while perhaps 1-2% really know any answers. A forum such as this one needs *many* members in order to be able to provide useful answers - or a handful of experts. We can wish that this happens soon.

I am in agreement with you, though I can honestly tell you that I am working on improving the site, but my time is limited. We have a few people here who are closely affiliated with working on the site, and I'm not sure thats why its inactive. It has decent content, design, and good ranking on the search engines. I would say most people would come to this forum for help or some technical issue.

Even though we have 300 registered members only 70 are active, meaning some have not posted in over 30 days. Apparently we broke a user activity record for 100 people viewing the site at once a few days ago. Either that or someone tried taking down the website

I'd like to thank Mike for inviting me here. I'll be working to add new content and answer more questions. Besides more activity what are some things that people would like to see on here? Lets turn this into a suggestions thread.

Re: Is it just me or does this website seem empty ?
Vista didn't even exist in final release when this forum started.
There were quite a few Vista forums sprang up towards the closing stages of Vista beta testing. Several have had no more success than this one. I browsed around at the time, having a look at what was on offer. Out of 6 relatively new sites I found, 3 did not make it at all. One has not even had a new post for three months!!
The problem, I believe, is that most users are "Internet aware" and, whilst not being particularly interested in routine visits to forums such as this, they do trawl for help when needed. I could point you to several instances of previous requests for help, where the OP has received help on another forum and is never again seen here.
The reason is simple, and has no easy solution. There are some darned good, long established, sites, with hundreds of very active members, out there. When a trawler arrives with a request, there is usually a flood of almost instant help. The requester gets his result and obviously, does not concern himself with advising on the other (6 ??) forums where he made a similar request.
I don't have a quick remedy for improving the permanent membership. One tongue in cheek idea is to "name drop" when on another forum, but maybe this is a little amoral.
I see a tendency (no offense Mike) towards the problem with Windows 7. The mentioned older sites, have already launched into "7" with separate forums confined to the coming OS. Older members of those sites will probably stay with what they are accustomed to.

Many of our most active users come from searching on a problem that has been discussed here at the forums. On-going efforts will always be made to make the forum as usable as possible. There are quite a few good posts, but any forum site depends on the integrity of its members. If someone comes around to get an answer to their problem, and never shows up again to help anyone else, that is simply the drawback of running a support oriented site.
