Exclamation New to Vista-Rickory
Hi Folks..I do have a question. How do I gain access to every file,folder,ect..It appears when logged as Admin.I still do not have permission to look at all data. Is there a single thing to do to get all permissions for all things?

Re: New to Vista-Rickory
Hi Rickory, have you tried going to 'Folder and search options' (this can be found by opening my computer and clicking 'organise' up on the left) If you click on 'view' you'll then see an option to display hidden files... I'm not sure that this is what your looking for but if not post back.

Re: New to Vista-Rickory
Thanks, I do have the box checked to show these files. I get a message that says" Location is not available". "Access is denied".This happens on some folders like Documents & settings, cookies and some others. It appears that the Admin. status does not have full access. I have 3 acct's..Guest,Std, Admin.I do understand the limitations of the Acct's. As I understand Admin. should give me TOTAL access. I have the admin. password set as a single key.I would normally work my way through this but don't want to screw this up. I am using Home Prem. which seems to be working fine without lots of problems others seem to have. I read somewhere about Super Admin. I am confused about all this, since I am not even sure I am the Admin!!So I am being very careful about what I do. Guess I'm just a control freak. Perhaps I need to buy the Vista dumbell book.
Thanks for your time to reply.

Re: New to Vista-Rickory
Hi Rickory,
a very good read is the Tweakguides guide for Vista and contains a section on this very topic.. You can either download the free copy or buy the 'deluxe version' ( which essentially is the same) get your copy here:
TweakGuides.com - The TweakGuides Tweaking Companion
The guide is very handy for all things vista so hopefully you'll be able to get those burning questions answered. If you still run into problems, please don't hesitate to post back.
Oh, by the way, your going to need something like 'Adobe Reader' to be able to use the guide. Just in case you need to, you download a copy here (again free):
Adobe - Adobe Reader Download - All versions

Re: New to Vista-Rickory
Thanks Again Kemical, I will take your advice. In between posts I believe I discovered the answer. It had to do with inheritable permissions.Seems like MS went to extremes with access authority. Both good & bad I guess.I'll keep up to date with posts on this site. Thanks Again.
