Thank Superbill, as it happens I had uninstalled the SP1 pack that I downloaded, and today decided to check windows update, There it was waiting for me as an important update, So after I checked MS issues and saved the sound instuctions I then let it update and took the dog for a walk. Installation went well and on restart there was a new Icon on the desktop double clcked it and lo and behold it went straight to SigmaTel.. Downloaded and installed the sound card then the drivers and every thing is as it should be
