Glass effect
Not sure where to go with this one.
I have a Dell 9200 with a 756mb Nvidia 880GTX card and Vista Premium.
Aero is set for the display but why do I not get the shiney glass effect on my monitor like I can see on other display models in shops and described by MS Vista.
Cheers, Any help please
Gordon

Hi Gordon

Had a look at the spec. of this rig and wondered what Power Supply Unit was installed. The specs. said 375W, but if you are running a NVIDIA 8800GTX card that seems barely enough.
Check again AT CONTROL PANEL<PERSONALIZATION<WINDOWS COLOUR & APPEARANCE...Ensure "Enable transparency" is ticked. Set the colour intensity to far right and see if their is a difference.
If you cannot get the "aero" effect it could be the PSU.
Also check that you have the most recent drivers installed for your graphics card.
Visit NVIDIA site and look for most recent drivers (version 169.25 or Beta 174.74)
Download and follow installation instructions

Re: Glass effect
Superbills right, to run that graphics card you need a 400W PSU at the very least. Even then thats pushing it some and the safe zone would be 500-600W.

Superbill.....Where did you see 375W?

Hi Kemical

The link below give me the specs. for the rig with the 375W PSU. I wondered if Gordon had upgraded the graphics card from the NVIDIA 8600GTS shown. As Fatboy agreed if you wanted to upgrade this card you might have to upgrade the PSU as well. It is possible however that the rig that Gordon posted about has a different specs. from this!!!!!!
