Is this XP SP3 final version?

Hi all

Is this the final version of XP SP3???????????
XP SP3 RC2 Build 5508 is available for download.
I downloaded it to my laptop and hey presto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It comes up in my system information as Service Pack 3 and not the build number.
Remember to uninstall previous beta versions before this new install.
You can get XP SP3 RC2 Refresh Build 5508 at the following link:::::::::

I have not read any news on the sites I follow saying whether that is the final build. I guess just wait the extra week or two and see what happens.

Re: Is this XP SP3 final version?

Hi Kemical

Yes, I have been reading on various sites about this being another refresh.
Strange how the build number is not shown in the system info.
I still think that this could be the final version but who knows!!!
One thing for sure is that that the service pack for XP has a more noticeably effect on the running of the OS than the service pack for Vista.

Re: Is this XP SP3 final version?

I haven't used XP since last year and was desperately bored with it (well you would be after 5yrs of using it). For a while I wasn't sure I'd done the right thing by moving over to vista but that was back in vistas 'infancy'. Now I don't miss XP at all and am glad I made the move..

Re: Is this XP SP3 final version?

Hi Kemical

Yup, I agree with you on being totally "hooked" on Vista after a period of time.
I think the problem with some doubters is that they have never used all the options that the OS has to offer and it is only through time and usage that you realise the benefits over XP.
However as I said before I am lucky to be able to use both Vista & XP on different rigs and at the moment this suits my needs.

Re: Is this XP SP3 final version?

If no significant bugs are found, a release candidate can turn into the final build.
