How to: Change Windows Vista Icons
How do you do it?
I absolutely LOVE Vista, but I like the Mac OSX Icons.
I would like to change my icons all at once to an icon set.
Is there a way to do this?
Please let's not turn this into a "If you love OSX icons so much, get OSX/Windows fan-boy" thread.
I asked the same question on another forum and they were just mean about it.

I believe the only way to change all default Windows icons safely is a program called Stardock WindowBlinds. Someone else might know how to do it without this program.

I'd rather not use third party adons that twill run in the background.

I wanted to change a couple of mine also - but couldn't.

Can't remember in XP whether I used a small 3rd party utility or not ...

The only option to change an icon in Vista that I have found is via a 'shortcut'. Make a shortcut, right click on it, and click 'properties' and 'change icon' is at the bottom of the pop-up dialog.
