setting up printer with hp dv2000 laptop

tried setting-up an lexmark z645 printer with hp dv2000 series laptop(using vista
os)...printer doesn't respond at all. do i need to get another driver? lexmark
says at website that as of feb 2007, it supports vista operating system?
any help would be greatly appreciated....eric...
