The Best Freeware I've found that isn't nonsensical...

It seems there is almost an infinite amount of freeware out there on the freewebs, but in that mound of garbage, there is a very select amount of software items that are worth a monkeys tittie and bald ass...

Lately I have been on a mission to find all of the coolest multi-function tools that use minimal system resources, while maximizing function, reducing hard drive space, and reducing the need for junk software.

I have found that auslogics disk defrag http://www.auslogics.com/en/software...efrag/download is the fastest and overall best defrag I have come across. Also, auslogics registry defrag http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/registry-defrag/download is very good. Vista and XP compatible, very fast, stable, and free.

Notepad++ is also a very good all around source editor, program editor, file viewer, program viewer, source viewer, and free... it's a multifunctional powerful tool, http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/download.php.

Avira Antivirus Personal Edition is a very good program that has kept my computer virus free for about 2 months now, and I have had no glitches, updates everyday, and it has a fully customizable interface to set it up just for you... http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1...antivirus.html.

Free Audio Editor 2008 is a kickass sound editor with crazy amounts of functions that you can only pay for with anything else. It allows you to dump sound recorder, gives you longer recordings, you get effects, and has a really nice graphical interface. Very smooth. http://www.brothersoft.com/free-audi...008-83947.html.

But if you are looking for a top of the line free audio tool that will do it all, there is a beta version of Audacity, ver. 1.3. Effects for days... I've been using Audacity for a year now, and I still don't grasp ALL of the effects, now there are some totally new ones to mess around with. It's pretty stable. If you get it backed up too far, it freaks a little and shuts down, but doesn't hang. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/.

Mozilla of course is free.. I had some problems with IE7 and IE8 a couple days ago, just stopped working on me completely and refused to work at all 'cept in safe mode... Now I carry both, Mozilla Firefox is now my default though... I only use IExplorer when a site won't let anything else open it, ie... Walmart... lol...

ALZip... It does everything that winzip, winrar, 7z or whatever... and it's free... it has like 29 different compression ratio's and is fully functional, all you have to do is deal with the stupid(my wife calls cute) Egg dude that is the mascott... lol...

Cracklock is a program that allows you to bypass the "virus" (lol) function of the trial programs by freezing the time or altering the calendar of the program, or you can system wide inject your Windows OS, but I think that messes everything up... but you can also run programs from inside of cracklock to just inject that program or game. Very handy at times. Free.

The Unlocker allows you to unlock any program/.dll/.exe whatever... by unattaching it from the system and allowing you to delete it when you keep getting that stupid pop up, that program is in use by system.. yada yada yada.. whatever!!! http://www.scanwith.com/Unlocker_download.htm.

View Source Editor... it's a small tiny program that doesn't need to be installed that allows you to change the source editor from notepad to whatever you want it to be. It says it's only compat. with XP and below, but I've been runnin it on Vista for a few weeks and it works fine. I've used it a couple times, no sweat... If anything, the compatibility assistant will work with it... it hasn't messed anything up yet or slowed the system down. Not a virus no worries. http://www.iconico.com/download.aspx...ewSourceEditor.

Belarc Advisor is the shiznit... it audits your pc completely all the way down to sn's of everything... including your motherboard, all your ms software keys show, there is not one thing that goes unlooked at when you run this bad boy... Very handy for all kinds of things if you need the information on something in your comp. Free, opens in your web browser but does not upload anything or connect online. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html.

Ultimate paint is a good paint, and picture editing program. It's free, craploads of functions, and is quick to load. Nice little program here... I haven't checked it out too much, but I know there are free updates, and it seems to work fine.

Well that's about it for now after downloading about 2 gigs worth of shit... and factory reinstalling once. All the rest I have found are pretty much useless and cause you to get more programs to pick up the mess. Let me know if you have any links to other programs that are useful.

Later people...
