| Re: Forget 45nm core chips Hi Kemical
The Tech Briefing article is in Issue 209, January 2008 of PCFormat Magazine.
It also mentions AMD's introduction in 2009 of Bulldozer a new CPU execution core that will be a ground-up, clean sheet design(whatever that means). Although details are "thin on the ground", AMD state it will deliver a major boost in clock-for clock performance as well as a deeper instruction pipeline. What makes this design decision surprising that the two don't normally go hand-in-hand.
Like Intel's Nehalen, Bulldozer based processors will be offered with optional integrated graphics (thanks to the merger with ATI) and will have many more cored than today's CPU's
If you can get a copy of that issue of the magazine there is plenty more info. and well worth a read. |
