Usually the data, under normal circumstances, is wiped for good, it actually depends on when you deleted it. Data isn't actually removed from your HDD, it's just put into a state where it can be written over. So as long as it's not been written over, there's a chance you may get it back. Their are specialists which can retrieve the information for you which ever state it's been put through but we are talking big bucks. There is a few utilities around though which might prove useful.
