Well i would reinstall the windows xp again to see if you get back your normall connect that u where getting before but to me it sounds like your wireless cards is dying on you and you should get it repair before your 1 year is up with dell

it can happen hardware is meant to last 2 to 3 years but u know yourself hardware can just die
